Our executive team has a combined 25 years of construction, building, and consulting experience. Thanks to that experience, we’ve been able to expand our team to include over 60 individuals, and provide them with the skills they need to be the best in the industry. Our success is rooted in the team we’ve been able to develop and grow over the years.

Our team has been accredited with numerous designations including Eng., B.Comm., MBA, CCA, PMP, APM, P.GCS and Red Seal trades which helps provide us with the skills we need to get the job done.

Principal

Sergio Alejandro Torres Barbosa – B.Comm- MIS, APM, P.GSC

Sergio founded SAT in 2006, and has been the Principal ever since.

Bullet Points: Born in Mexico, immigrated to Canada, Sergio holds multiple degrees and certificates from both the University of Alberta and Stanford University. He is also a recognized Gold Seal Certificate Project Manager from the Canadian Construction Association. In 2012, Sergio was named honorary ambassador at the sister cities convention in Jinan in Shandong China.

Life and Work: During his free time, Sergio enjoys nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. When at work, Sergio puts his heart and soul into every interaction with his clients and team saying that “Our clients deserve what my children deserve and I only give my children the very best of me”.

Project Manager

Thomas Wilson Anderson

Born in Ottawa, raised in Edmonton, Thomas is SAT’s Project Manager for millwork, reconstruction, and renovations.

Bullet points: Thomas joined the SAT team in October of 2016, bringing over 10 years of experience to the team. He is also a journeyman plumber with his Red Seal. Thomas specializes in multifamily high-rises, CRU, tenant improvement and special projects for SAT, and has had the opportunity to work on NET ZERO projects both locally and overseas.

When he’s not at work: With a new baby on board, Thomas enjoys spending time with his family, and it will take only a whisper to get him to go fishing. He enjoys playing and watching basketball and hockey. “In the demanding construction industry with its never-ending workload I am passionate about delivering great projects to our clients. There is something about looking at a piece of land one day and seeing a finished project the next, and when you are working alongside an awesome team and with great clients it’s always a great feeling doing what we do.”

SAFETY OFFICER

Jeniffer Kotylak – NCSO, OHS Certified, Trainer & Auditor

Jennifer is without a question a go getter, always training and looking to implement new strategies to make the work safer, more efficient and fun. Jennifer is SAT’s Head of Safety in the Office and Operations.  

Bullet points:– Joined SAT in 2019. Jeniffer was a heavy equipment operator contributing to multiple high end projects including the Muskrat falls project prior to working in safety. Jeniffer is a certified NSCO, Auditor and Trainer and OMS certified. She helds a Business Accounting diploma.

When not at work: Jen has Pride and Passion for safety and commitment to every individuals overall health and safety, she considers herself more of a safety support than safety officer/police. When off work Jen loves spending time with her family and friends, hanging out outdoors, fishing golfing, dirt biking and boating, or as she best describes it “living lake life”

PROJECT CONTROLLER & ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE

Alejandra Mesa

Alejandra is our Project Assistant and Coordinator, she is a natural at keeping everyone in check and making sure our projects and operations run smoothly.

Bullet Points: Even though Alejandra was born in Medellin, Colombia, she was raised and has lived most of her life in Edmonton, which she calls home now. Like most people in our office she is bilingual and you can usually find her greeting you in both English and Spanish. She can be described as a go getter, and is always going the extra mile.

Life and Work:  During her free time Alejandra enjoys nature walks. “There is something about nature that simply can’t be beat” she says. When at work, Alejandra thinks of SAT as her second home. “I enjoy what I do at work and I believe this attitude grants me a balance between my social life and daily work ethic.”

PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

Wenhue (Wendy) Yao – B. Comm, CT

Wendy was born in China and is the Procurement Specialist at SAT. She will be one of the main points of contact for most projects to ensure all stakeholders are informed, schedule is on track, and processes are followed according to plan. Wendy is tenacious, and has a long track record of successful project management.

Bullet Points: A recent business school graduate from the University of Alberta, Wendy is enthusiastic and approachable. Her passion is to contribute, support, and make a difference in the business world. Wendy says she thinks in Chinese most of the time, even when speaking English.

Life and Work: Her day-to-day duties include working closely with the Principal and SAT’s Project Managers on all requirements of a project throughout its lifecycle. Outside of work, she loves cooking – mainly testing out new recipes.

OFFICE MANAGER

Laura Botello

Laura was born in Mexico

Bullet points: She holds a Bachelor Degree in International Relations from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara.  She is interested in global affairs and international politics.

Laura joined SAT in 2015; since then Laura has been In charge of keeping the office together, from welcoming at the front door, to organizing meetings, company calendars, events, to simple tasks such as handling correspondence. 

The balance between job and family:  At the office there is always work to do and its pleasing being able to support everyone on doing a great work. When at home, I try to give my daughters all my time, they are my priority

Hobbies: I love travelling with my family, when alone I love cooking, is one of my favorites activities

Corporate Controller

Leonardo D’Este – B.Comm

Leonardo is a Venezuelan and Italian transplant  that has been based out of Edmonton for nearly two decades.

Bullet points: He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Management degree from MacEwan University. He comes to our company with eleven years of previous experience in the finance and investment sector working mainly with major banks and institutions, and has a strong drive for project management. Leonardo’s dynamic and restless personality allows him to try to wear a few hats at the same time. His primary role within our firms is of corporate controller.

Detailed oriented, research driven, and passionate about sustainable energy, preservation, architecture, and doing good for all.

The balance between job and family:  Coming from the corporate world; and being driven by my high standards of achievement I always struggled to keep a separation between job and family. It has taken much work to define that boundary and what it means to me. One of the great things about our team is that while we are working; the environment doesn’t feel like a pressure cooker and that really matters in putting a smile when I come to work and when I leave.

Warehouse Manager

Dulce Mercado

Dulce loves to be around people who inspire her to grow. She has worked in the planning and logistics area for more than 4 years, learning every day that teamwork is an important skill.

Life & Work: Hiking, taking a walk by the river or cycling, spending time with family and friends.

Education: Marketing degree from the University of Guadalajara, Diploma in comprehensive leadership training.

Abatement QA/QC

Jorge Ramirez – I. Eng

Jorge is SAT’s on-site representation of the QA team, where he is always available to investigate issues as they arise and ensure employee safety and environmental standards. He helps implement programs with crews in the field to allow optimum utilization of materials and resources. Jorge also excels at increasing efficiency, reducing operating costs at work sites, and improving overall quality.

Life & Work: Playing tennis, watching soccer, BBQing at home, having a good time with his wife and friends.

Education: Graduated as Industrial Engineer/Specialist Instrumentation and process control from CETI University, Mexico

Project Coordinator

Chanjot “Chan” Pandher

Born and raised in Edmonton, AB, Chanjot is a project coordinator with SAT Consulting & Construction.

Bullet points: Chan started with SAT in 2022. Prior to that he was working in the construction and transportation industry for the previous 7 years. He views construction as something that is always changing and loves to see projects go from start to finish. He is looking forward to gaining more knowledge and experience in the construction, demolition, and abatement industry.

When he’s not at work: He enjoys gong for long drives into the mountains, spending time with friends and family, going for hikes and playing basketball.

Cindy Goss – B.Comm

Cindy comes to SAT with over 25 years combined experience in bookkeeping, business development, & administration roles. Cindy is great at identifying current market trends while creating and implementing market strategies to benefit the company’s profitability. She is also a big fan of the management of small business’ books and restructuring bookkeeping practices and procedures.

Cindy supports SAT with the everyday book keeping, payroll and other financial documentation.
